The company designs and manufactures the O’nil range of locking plates in collaboration with experienced trauma surgeons. Our aim is to provide the highest quality implants and to simplify today’s approach to Traumatology.

The O’nil range of locking plates have a unique patented locking system using
a tapered, conical coupling. This system offers many advantages over traditional
locking plates and overcomes many of the problems associated with traditional
non-locking and locking plate systems.

Traditional locking plates use a threaded screw-plate locking system.

Intrauma screws have a 2° conical head section. This locks into a
corresponding 2° tapered cone in the bushings, which are pre-assembled
on the plate. This coupling is similar to the Morse taper used for the head-neck
coupling in a modular hip prosthesis.

It is an extremely stable coupling, which effectively transfers loads through the structure and reduces the risk of screws backing out or plate breakage.  It also permits easy removal of the screws, whether because they have been placed incorrectly intra-operatively, or for later removal of the plate.

The screws can either be unscrewed from the bushing, or the whole assembly, screw and bushing, removed with a special tool, and a new bushing and screw fitted to the plate.

Four different sizes of screw are available for different plates and applications, with corresponding colour-coded bushes.
